Books are important to everybody!!!

Our movie night on Friday the 20th of March was a success. We reached our goal of more than 1,000 books. At the movie night we raised over 450 books. I think so far, this year this project was my favorite. I hope you all enjoyed the movie. I know I did! There were many mouth watering snacks there like cupcakes and popcorn. I know I love books. Who doesn't?? Kids in hospitals staying for weeks should be able to grab a good book and enjoy it. I think the books that we collected throughout this project will be very important to both kids and adults at hospitals.

We finished our Goal!!

These are the cupcakes I made. (supposed to be baymax)
Yay!!! The Rescue Rangers raised more than 1000 books by the end of March. We finished our goal!! From our movie night we raised more than 450 books, which was a lot! I am pretty sure everyone enjoyed the movie, I know I did. For the movie night, I made cupcakes that looked like one of the main characters. I was glad to be helping in my own way too. We also had popcorn there. I think this project was one my favorite. As we were raising books for sick kids I realized how much I love books. I love going to the library or the bookstore. For kids in hospitals I know how much you need to read a book, especially when you are staying in the hospital for more than a week. I know many kids in hospitals will like to read the books we donated. I can't wait to start our next project!!!!

Sucessful Movie Night By Hana

On March 20, Zakat Foundation held a movie night. The community came together to watch the movie that day. Instead of money for admission, each person gave five books, which would be donated to the children's hospitals. People from different organizations such as the Unschoolers, homeschool moms, and others also gave books to this worthy cause. That night we raised over 400 books, the movie night was a success.

Libraries

I know for some people libraries are nothing special, and reading might not be fun for others. Here is the catch everyone can't experience all the books you can find at libraries normally if you were to go to a nearby library. Like adults and children at hospitals who don't have much fun and they would want something for them to entertain them. Libraries are fun and special to me for two simple reasons is that I love reading, and I can access most of the books I want. People at hospitals can't though and I know that for a fact that some children or adults love to read but can't find anything worth reading. Reading is something fun but also good for you. It practices your reading skills and the book could talk about informative information about a topic. Honestly in my opinion, a lot of people often don't appreciate books and how interesting every book out there could be. You just have to put out the idea out there. There is so many themes and topic that they're endless. My favorite theme is science-fiction or action like a adventure. Of course I almost like all themes but of course not all but I know for sure there is other topics I never read about. Keep looking for good books and keep your eyes open. Not everybody can do that. That's we are collecting books for children's hospitals, for people to be entertained and so their mind can keep working. It could put happy thought and excitement in them. Books are something important that people should pay attention to more often. One thing I ask is when is the last book you read for your own good and not because your school made you, your parents, or something along those lines? Keep something in mind books can strengthen your brain. Libraries are something important and valuable to humans. Libraries are good for accessing books. Hope you read something you like for your entrainment as long as you can access a library or books. Remember one last thing libraries are a nice area to learn, and read a fun book.

Why are Libraries and Books Important??

Actually why are libraries and books important?? I really never thought about that! Libraries are very important to the public places around us. We really need books to higher our reading fluency. According to research it can higher your grades. Also books aren't free! If you don't want to pay for books you can just easily go to the library where they are offering you free books. Libraries are a safe place for children and adults to get books. The librarians are very nice and they help you find any books you are willing to get. Books really help you in many different ways, like there are books that are informative or they try to entertain you.  Reading is also important because it develops the mind. The mind is a muscle. It needs exercise. Understanding the written word is one way the mind grows in its ability. Teaching young children to read helps them develop their language skills. It also helps them learn to listen. Everybody wants to talk, but few can really listen. Some of my favorite books are the new books STUNG and CURED by Bethany Wiggins Image result for stung and curedImage result for stung and cured I am still reading stung but it is still very interesting!!

cinema time

On Friday march 20th the zakat foundation rescue ranger members arranged a movie night event to watch big hero 6 so we can raise enough books to donate to children's hospitals: Dupont hospital and CHOP.We tried to spread the word and alhamdulillah a lot of people brought in new or gently used books for the patients. We enjoyed the delicious cupcakes and buttery popcorn, they were a real treat. Everybody enjoyed the big adventure with Baymax. I hope we can have another movie night soon. :)

Movie Night

I just came back from the movie night. The movie was awesome; it was a combination of adventure, mystery and humor. It was sad in some parts funny in others and awesome over all. I even teared up a little. I can watch that movie over and over again. I think we raised a lot of books probably more than a hundred or two. I can't way until we have another movie night.

Some books can be very intresting. I like many different kinds of books. Some of my favorite are the peter pan and the starcatchers series, harry potter series, animorphs, the hobbit, and alot more. When I go to the library I find a new series to read. Kids at hospitals like to read too. Thats why we are raising books for them. If you come to our Movie Night on Friday you can help us reach our goal of 1000 books. I hope to see you there.

The Benefits of Books by Hana S. H.

Reading is an every-day part of life that most people don't even think twice about; the newspaper, signs alongside the road, and labels on food. And the benefits to reading that? Well, the newspaper provides with you with global news, road signs to show the speed limit, and food labels to display the contents of a container of food. But what about an average book? Do fictional tales benefit you at all?

The answer is “yes!” Books do benefit you and your mind, one way being stress reduction. Any stress build up during the day slips away when you lose yourself in a good book. Tension drains away and your mind calms—and this is just one of the benefits! Knowledge is another no-brainier, even purely fictional tales often have a moral. Knowledge can be accumulated in large amounts thanks to books, along with new and rich vocabulary—soon you'll find yourself an avid reader!

Books can be an essential part of life to some people, and if books are lacking in their lives, those people might find their joy depreciating. In the Children hospitals, kids and their parents often find themselves longing for the comfort of a pleasant book in which they may dive into. And yet, some of these hospitals may lack a well-supplied library. By donating books to Zakat Foundation, we will pass these books along to the hospitals where kids and adults alike can enjoy a book—just like you.

Why I Love To Read Books. By Adam Hubert.

I go to the library to check out books. Sometimes I go on imaginary adventures. I read the book in my head.  I read nonfiction and fiction books. We checkout a lot of books when we go to the library. I read a ton of books. My favorite book is Into The woods by Faith Erin Hicks, and J.Torres. It's a graphic novel about big foot boy.  The main character is Rufus.  He is a hero in the story.  The word Sasquatch can change Rufus into a Bigfoot boy. he looks like a red bear. If you get a chance read this book.  I am happy to be part of the Rescue Rangers collecting books for children hospitals. Please bring your lightly used books so others can enjoy reading them.
