Indonesia Life and Culture by
Indonesia is an archipelago of more than 17,000 Island, with
over 250 million people living in it. The capital city of Jakarta is one of the
most populous cities in the world. It is a vibrant city with people of many
cultural backgrounds like India, China and Middle East. Just like its culture,
Indonesia has people with multiple religious believes like Islam, Christianity,
Buddhism, Hinduism and Confucianism.
Indonesia is rich in many art forms like dances, poetry,
theater, craft, sculpture, architecture and martial art. I found Silat which is
a form of martial art to be very fascinating. It looks like a combination of
Karate and Wresting. The players use both their hands and feet to get the
opponent down. It is fun to watch the videos on YouTube, but it is painful for
the player who gets thrown down to the ground.
